Keeping the momentum going, I painted a few more watercolors, this time on a healthier genre, since my last post was all carbs and sugar. This batch presented its own challenges, namely reproducing the colors of the all familiar fruits and vegetables. While an iris or the frosting on a cupcake can come in a variety of colors, not so with a humble, unadulterated radish or a lemon!
To encourage your comments, I will say this, I'm not afraid of critique, in fact, I welcome it, as long as it's fair and relevant to the subject. And since the computer cannot fully reproduce the true colors of the painting, I hope to get the benefit of the doubt. I will admit it, there are moments when I look dumbfounded at a color, not being able to discern it, and end up just sort of guessing it. Is it a case of daltonism? I honestly don't know. But I won't let those moments discourage me and I press on.
One thing I learned is the importance of looking at things critically, or with other words, very intently, reducing the subject to shapes defined by colors, light and shadow, and their relationships to one another. Having said all this, I will allow you to make your own judgement.
Hot, hot!
Red onion, good on a juicy hamburger.
Sliced thin, this radish will add a nice crunch to your salad.
Bosc pears and Honeycrisp apples are my favorite.
Lemonade anyone?
What rhymes with coconuts?
That's all for now, folks, and with the end of our vacation in Florida drawing near, I would like to do one more post, departing from edible subjects, but I won't let "the cat out of the bag", I'll just call it a "surprise".
So until next time, make sure to eat your veggies and lots of fruit. They're good for you!
I look at your pictures.. and think oh... if I could do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the red onion really looks right. The honeycrisp apple and Bosc pear has some Van Gogh in it!
the hot hot pepper is my favorite. The coconut.. my least. All the others are so beautiful.. They look good enough to advertise.. radishes, onions, lemons, etc. Don't know why God made food not only edible, but beautiful.
These are so Inspiring. Prob the best watercolors I have ever done where still lives of fruit . There is a certain joy about His creation! I admire you staying with this!
