An exercise in hand-tool use and an approach to minimalism

I like simple things, there is an honesty about them and a respect for the material they're made of, and in my mind, nothing comes as close to that concept as rustic furnishings do.
I set out to make a hall tree using readily available materials and with a minimum of processing. I decided on using only hand tools, as would have done an 18th century craftsman. Pictured below are the tools I used.
